The Power of Detox

The Power of Detox

As we begin the new year, many are looking for a guided reset to help support the body’s natural process of detoxification and elimination to improve overall health and a sense of wellbeing.

We are inundated with toxins from the moment we are born. Studies show that newborn umbilical cord bloods contain over 200 contaminants. From the products that touch our skin, the air we breathe, to the food we eat, we are exposed to hundreds of toxins daily, affecting total-body burden.

Chronic exposure to toxins contribute to obesity and other health related issues. Furthermore, microbial imbalances in the gastrointestinal tract, along with toxins, contribute to hormone and immune imbalances, inflammatory states, metabolic function, and neurological and gastrointestinal health.

I always say that the body does a pretty good job of healing, always striving for balance, but sometimes these pathways get just a little too burdened and can get “stuck.” This can be exacerbated by when coupled with genetic influences that negatively impact antioxidant and nutrient status and detox pathways.

A great way to reset is a gentle program supporting our organs of elimination, repleting nutrients depleted by toxins, eating whole foods, and addressing GI imbalances.

Make sure to check out our new Detox Bundles and consult your doctor on which might be the best for you to choose. Take advantage of our Detox Center services to assist you on your detox journeys.

If you’d like to take a more detailed look at microbial imbalances that can impact many facets of your overall health, reach out to our office to inquire about our stool analysis to investigate markers of inflammation and digestive function, along with GI pathogens (including bacteria, parasites, and yeast).

Happy 2025 to all,
with many wishes for a healthy and happy new year,
Dr. Angela Karvounides, ND
